MIRAMAR APPROVES PRIVATE DEVELOPMENT PHASE OF TOWN CENTER
MIRAMAR, FL—The Miramar City Commission unanimously approved the final agreements necessary to commence the private development phase of its Town Center project at its February 16, 2005 City Commission Meeting.
A joint venture formed between the Rockefeller Group Development Corporation and Kimco Developers, Incorporated, will purchase the land earmarked for the mixed-use retail, office, and residential components of the Town Center project.
“This marks the culmination of years of hard work and the perseverance of many dedicated people,” said Mayor Lori Moseley. “A genuine Town Center with arts, commerce, social, civic, and government activity was a keystone of Miramar’s Visioning Process held nearly a decade ago. Now that vision will soon be a reality.”
The Miramar Town Center sits on a 54-acre parcel located at the geographic center of the City. The City purchased the property in 2001 with the expressed intent to construct a Town Center utilizing the concepts of a Traditional Neighborhood Development.
Miramar’s Town Center will include residential, retail, office, entertainment, and wellness facilities integrated with government, cultural, and educational venues. Together all these amenities and functions create a unique and central gathering place that will be enjoyed by residents and visitors for generations to come.
