The City of Miramar operates two senior centers designed for those who are fifty-five years old or older. The Sunset Lakes Senior Center is in West Miramar, while the senior center in the Multi-Service Complex is in East Miramar. Both centers offer a wide array of services such as counseling and support groups, information and referral, health and wellness, recreational activities and even a hot lunch provided by Broward Meals on Wheels.

The Social Services Department operates a senior demand-response transportation program for individuals over the age of 60. This includes transportation to Miramar’s senior centers, grocery stores, medical appointments, and various recreational trips. The service is door-to-door and is wheelchair accessible. The service is limited and is by reservation only.

Prepare a suitcase, box or any other container and have it ready for a hurricane. If you evacuate to a shelter you will need to take the following items in a prepared Hurricane Suitcase. If possible, take a lawn chair or cot. |

There are a variety of transportation options to get you to and from the senior centers including our senior center buses, the Broward County TOPS programs, the Miramar shuttle buses or you can have a friend or family member drop you off and pick you up. The length of time it takes to make transportation arrangements depends on which type of transportation you need. |
The Miramar Senior Center is collecting your Social Security number as part of its responsibility to conduct assessments. We do this to determine benefits or services for you. Your Social Security Number is confidential under law and will be kept confidential. |
It's easy to make transportation reservations. Once you are a member of one of our senior centers, you can call the Transportation Clerk at (954) 889-2711 for grocery shopping and doctor appointments. Recreational trips must be signed up for in person at one of the senior centers. |
