“Meeting Your Transit Needs in Miramar” - The City of Miramar Public Works Department, in cooperation with Broward County, has expanded its Community Bus service by now offering four routes.

The routes now include the following: Red Route; Green Route; Oange Route and Yellow Roue. With these four routes, it is now possible to travel from the eastern end of Miramar west as far as 196th Ave. The Community bus service receives funding from the City of Miramar and Broward County Mass Transit. Many buses are wheelchair accessible and bikerack equipped.

Hours of Operation:

  • Monday through Friday.
  • Green route hours are from 6:15 a.m. to 6:15 p.m.
  • Orange route hours are from 6:30 a.m. to 6:26 p.m.
  • Red route hours are from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

SCHEDULE CHANGES TO COMMUNITY BUS ROUTES

Effective April 1, 2013, the City of Miramar will begin operation of the Community Shuttle Bus Service on a new time schedule.  The effort will increase on time performance of the Community Shuttle Bus Service.  The following routes have been reviewed by City staff and approved by the City Commission at their February 6, 2013 meeting.

YELLOW ROUTE:
The route will start at the Miramar Town Center Transit Hub and will begin pickups from that point.  The route will proceed east to 441 and will return back to the Transit Hub to complete each trip.  The route will be going by all the same stops.  The run time will be increased from 60 minutes to 72 minutes per trip and the number of daily trips will be reduced from 12 to 10.  The route will start at 7:00am and will end at 7:00pm.

ORANGE ROUTE:
The route formally known as the Green West will start at the Miramar Town Center Transit Hub and will begin pickups from that point.  The route will proceed west to the Sunset Lakes Municipal Complex and will return back to the Transit Hub to complete each trip.  The route will be going by all the same stops.  The run time will be increased from 60 minutes to 90 minutes per trip and the number of daily trips will be reduced from 12 to 8.  The route will start at 6:30am and end at 6:30pm.

GREEN ROUTE:
The route formally known as the Green East will start at the Miramar Town Center Transit Hub and will begin pickups from that point.  The route will proceed east to the Multipurpose Center and will return back to the Transit Hub to complete each trip.  The route will go by all the same stops.  The run time will be increased from 60 minutes to 80 minutes and the number of daily trips will be reduced from 12 to 9.  The route will start at 6:15am and end at 6:15pm.

RED ROUTE:
The route will start at the Miramar Town Center Transit Hub and will begin pickups from that point.  The route will proceed east to Venetian Street and will return back to the Transit Hub to complete each trip.  The route will be going by all the same stops.  The run time will be increased from 60 minutes to 80 minutes per trip and the number of daily trips will be reduced from 12 to 9.  The route will start at 6:30am and end at 6:30pm.

Locations Served

All Miramar Community buses stop at designated stops and are on a specific schedule. It is possible that traffic conditions may cause the bus to be a few minutes early or late.

  • Both Memorial Hospital West, and the new Memorial Hospital Miramar are served by the bus service.
  • In addition, many community facilities, shopping centers, schools and parks are on the route.
  • The buses stop at various locations within the city with all routes connecting at the Town Center.
  • Buses additionally connect to major Broward County Mass Transit Routes, such as: 2; 5; 7; 18; 23; and 28.
  • Connections can now be made to virtually anywhere in Broward County.
  • Although there are designated bus stops, requests for additional stops on the routes can be made, and will be accommodated if possible.
Fares
  • The community bus is FREE
  • BCT riders must pay the BCT fare
  • Transportation for Seniors: The Social Services Department also operates a senior demand-response transportation program for individuals over the age of 60. This includes transportation to Miramar’s senior centers, grocery stores, medical appointments, and various recreational trips. All transportation is wheelchair accessible. The service is limited and is by reservation only.
